The Sydney: Class A Mixed Use Entertainment Center Coming Scottsdale off the 101 & Pima
The pickleball community in the Valley is on the rise, and exciting new opportunities to play the sport are emerging. The latest addition is ‘Pickle and Social,’ a unique concept originating from Georgia, which is now making its way to Arizona!
Location: 101 & Pima
Brian Harper, a general partner at Competitive Social Ventures, has unveiled renderings showcasing their vision for this innovative concept.
“Our traditional Pickle and Social venues feature state-of-the-art pickleball courts, both indoor with climate control and outdoor. Additionally, we offer a full-service restaurant, multiple bars, a rooftop bar, dedicated event space, and a large green space,” explained Harper.
Competitive Social Ventures, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, is the operating company behind the creation of Pickle and Social, one of three unique concepts developed by the company.
According to Harper, the renderings represent their vision for the space, subject to review and approval by officials from the tribal community.
The expansive green space will include an ACL Cornhole Yard and various yard games such as Connect Four, giant Jenga, and Spike Ball, providing family-friendly entertainment.
Situated on 3.5 acres of land in a new development area called “The Sydney,” this eatertainment destination will offer a remarkable indoor facility spanning approximately 25,000 square feet. Furthermore, there will be nearly 15,000 square feet of air-conditioned space dedicated to the restaurant, event space, and bars.
Harper emphasized that all concepts developed by Competitive Social Ventures fall under the category of “eatertainment” destinations, and the upcoming Arizona venture is no exception. While pickleball will undoubtedly take center stage, there will also be a food and beverage component.
“Our Fairway Social concept will be integrated into Pickle and Social, providing a hybrid model. Visitors will have access to four world-class golf simulators, allowing them to play over 130 courses from around the world,” shared Harper.
When considering the location for the Arizona venture, Harper drew inspiration from his previous experience at Topgolf and recognized the success of Scottsdale in the hospitality entertainment industry.
The Arizona location, scheduled to open in 2024, is being constructed from the ground up at “The Sydney” corridor, an iconic real estate development near Salt River Fields.
Harper expressed his enthusiasm for the area, stating, “I wanted to be in that area, and when we met Dan Lupien and the team at The Sydney, we saw the incredible vision they had for creating an entertainment district. We couldn’t pass up this opportunity.”
Building from scratch allows the Competitive Social Ventures team to ensure everything is done right and perfect. Harper mentioned that extensive research has been conducted to create this unique destination.
“The Sydney” is a 29-acre mixed-use entertainment center currently in development within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
The opening of Pickle and Social is slated for 2024, offering an exciting new venue for pickleball enthusiasts and those seeking a vibrant entertainment experience.
