A new station has sprung up in the heart of Arcadia, waiting to take 24 lucky passengers on a journey through time and space. Platform 18, located inside the Century Grand, is the home to a fully immersive Pullman dining car picked straight out of the 1920s. From the first sounds of the steam locomotive signaling your departure, to your first steps onto the Presidential car, you are immediately transported into the golden era of the Jazz Age.
Once on board, you are taken on a 90-minute journey, winding through the Rocky Mountain wilderness You discover that you are a guest on the private train of a Mr. Pennington, a wealthy bootlegger, and that you are en-route to his luxurious and illusive grand estate. To pass the time on your journey, you are greeted by suspender-clad mixologists who have flutes of champagne waiting at your seats. Once seated, you are encouraged to peruse a book of handcrafted cocktail recipes, with perfectly curated names such as the “Steel Tycoon”, the “Mafioso”, “Honest Day’s Wage, or “Dead Man’s Pocket Watch”. With over 10 pages of themed libations, it is nearly impossible to choose just one of the decadent cocktails, made with exotic ingredients such as smoked black tea, Habanero Acacia honey, and Campari cotton candy.
As you sip on your handmade cocktail, it is easy to get lost in the landscape of the beautiful forests passing right outside your window. The cozy train car starts to feel as if you really are being transported back in time, with the ambient sounds of the Prohibition-era jazz music playing in the background. Before you know it, your train pulls into its final stop and it is time to disembark. However, if you are not quite ready to leave the grandeur of the 1920s behind, you can continue your stay in the Century Grand’s exclusive whiskey bar, the Grey Hen, or stay for a dim sum dinner in the main salon.
This one-way ticket to the Pennington Estate is a hot commodity, and reservations are only available 7 days before your journey.
